5 Ways to Have a Good Wedding Photoshoot
In photography there are different type of jobs and careers, we know that we love to create and do some free style with our camera, the truth is that the paid jobs; are the events and mostly the weddings.
Some photographers love this kind of job, others they do it because they receive an offer randomly to be the wedding photographer and others they do it because it gives you a good paid contract. Either ways it’s your case, you need to know the basic to have a good photoshoot in a wedding; previous photos of the newlyweds, the wedding pictures (ceremony, people and details) and of course the special moments of the event.
Today we’re going to guide you in 5 different ways to have a successful wedding photoshoot. Let’s start!
1. The Newlyweds
The first of all, you need to do a previous photoshoot of the newlyweds before the wedding, these pictures will be all around the ceremony and party, so it’s really important, you need to include this photoshoot in the wedding package; if you want to have success.
For this photoshoot you need to do some serious pictures, others romantics and of course the funny ones; it’s really important to have accessories and expressions that represent the couple. After the ceremony and before the reception you need to take pictures of them in some park close from the church (romantic photos) you need o do your research of the location before the day arrives, this is the key!
Of course, during the whole wedding you need to take pictures of the newlyweds during the ceremony (the most important part) also, with the decoration in the reception, people/family and of course pictures of them enjoying the party (you’ll be like paparazzi). I highly recommend you to bring one or two assistants; because it’s a lot of details and equipment, also you may need them to take the pictures meanwhile the future newlyweds prepare their selves before the ceremony (You can never forget this).
2. The Details Of The Event
You need to take details of everything, yes everything! Part of the decoration, the expressions of the people, the food, drinks, the rings and everything involved with the ceremony. This will be the memory of the couple for the rest of their lives together and you’re the responsible one!
3. The Equipment
You need to transport practically a lot of lights with soft box, flashes, radios, memories, reflector, batteries, and two cameras if it’s possible. You need to always have a back-up plan, it’s kind of difficult but if you’re in the middle of the ceremony in the church or in a park and you need something that you don’t have, well that’s going to be a problem for you. It’s better to have more than having less.
That’s why I told you to bring some photographer assistants; these will the key, because meanwhile you’re shooting the newlyweds with their family at the beginning of the reception; one can help you with the details of the photographed people and they other one can start taking photos of the decoration before the people mess with it (one or two assistants will depend of the budget, the hours of work and the huge of the ceremony).
4. Details Of The Photographed People
When you’re doing the pictures of the newlyweds with their families, friends and people invited to the ceremony, you need to be very careful with this, but what do you mean? I mean with all the details; like the bright on their faces (make-up, a compact will solve the situation), the clothes if it’s in a good position (we don’t want to see a bra or don’t see the white shirt through the sleeves, just to mention some), also we need to check that the hair is in well shape and stuffs like these.
5. Schedule The Time
As a professional photographer, you need to schedule the time and the hours you were hired with the time you’ll spend in each photo. Also, you need to be very careful, because in the middle of the reception when the party starts to get warmer; at first the pictures of people enjoying are really good, but after a few hours; the photos will be a mess, people will have shinning faces, the hair will a totally chaos and the newlyweds will be out of shape, so try to take all the pictures at first, when everybody is pretty, calm and quite; at least for the important ones for the record (like the newlyweds with the cake, the family and friends).
Because there’s one moment that taking pictures will be a loose of time and a lot of work with Photoshop, as a photographer you need to handle with all of that.
